In the dynamic landscape of mobile marketing, choosing an attribution partner that offers long-term stability and consistent service is critical. We understand that for advertisers, switching platforms feels like a race against time: campaigns can’t stop, and data streams must not break.
As a one-stop platform for growth analysis and decision-making with years of industry expertise, SolarEngine is committed to providing stable, professional, and long-term data services.
To help developers looking for a "new home" transition smoothly, we have compiled this comprehensive migration guide. Regardless of why you are seeking a new partner, this guide is designed to help you stabilize your operations during this critical window.
In just six steps, you can start tracking your ad and product performance with SolarEngine.
Step 1: Basic Integration
First, register and activate your SolarEngine account. Create your product and app within the dashboard, and complete the basic integration of the SolarEngine SDK/API.
Regarding the Old SDK from your previous provider, you have two strategies:
-
Strategy A: Remove the old SDK immediately (Recommended!)
-
This is the most efficient method. It ensures a fast transition, eliminates the risk of duplicate attribution, and requires the least amount of technical maintenance.
-
-
Strategy B: Keep the old SDK for a transition period
-
If you wish to compare data between the two platforms during the transition, you may choose to keep it. However, please note that this will increase your app package size and workload. You must remove the old SDK once the transition period ends.
-
Step 2: Historical Data Migration (Critical Step)
This is the most important step! Migrating historical data ensures that your existing users are correctly identified by SolarEngine. If you skip this, old users might be misattributed as "new users." This not only wastes your advertising budget on retargeting existing users but also consumes your SolarEngine new user quota unnecessarily.
We offer two migration methods depending on your previous platform:
-
Scenario 1: Migrating from TrackingIO
-
Easy! You don't need to process the data yourself. Simply provide your TrackingIO AppKey to our operations team. The SolarEngine team will handle the entire data migration for you on the backend.
-
-
Scenario 2: Migrating from other MMPs
-
Self-Service. You need to export a data file containing Channel Names and Device IDs from your original platform and send this file to SolarEngine.
-
Step 3: API Data Postback Configuration
If you had real-time callbacks configured on your previous platform, you need to set them up again in SolarEngine.
-
Path: SolarEngine Dashboard -> Attribution -> App Settings -> Data Export -> Real-time API Data Export.
Step 4: Ad Account Binding
Don't forget to re-bind your ad network accounts (e.g., Google Ads, Meta, TikTok) in the SolarEngine dashboard. This ensures that cost data is pulled correctly, guaranteeing that critical metrics like ROI are accurate.
-
Path: SolarEngine Dashboard -> Asset Management -> Third-party Account Management.
Step 5: Creating Tracking Links & Switching Ads
Once the setup is ready, it’s time to switch the live traffic:
-
Create new tracking links in the SolarEngine dashboard.
-
Pause the ad campaigns running on the old platform's links.
-
Deploy the new SolarEngine links to the media channels and resume tracking.
-
Path: SolarEngine Dashboard -> Attribution -> Select the specific debugged App -> Tracking Link Management.
Step 6: Channel Postback Configuration
Finally, configure the channel callbacks in SolarEngine. This ensures that attribution data is correctly sent back to your media partners, closing the data loop for campaign optimization.
-
Path: SolarEngine Dashboard -> Search for specific product -> Attribution -> Select the specific debugged App -> Channel Management -> Channel Configuration.
Data migration is like moving house—while it may sound tedious, it is often the perfect opportunity to organize your assets and start fresh with a lighter load.
