Stop Paying for the Wrong Users: Use SolarEngine's Regional Firewall to Keep Your Traffic Clean

Picture this: You target Southeast Asia — yet your attribution reports tell a different story. Impressions, clicks, and even installs start coming from regions you never selected. This out-of-region traffic quietly drains your budget and adds noise to your data, making ROI analysis and optimization far more difficult.

This is a common challenge in global advertising and it's exactly where better control over regional traffic becomes essential.

SolarEngine's Anti-Fraud Module has recently launched a new feature, the "Regional Firewall", to help advertisers better focus their marketing campaigns on core markets.

Why Does Out-of-Region Traffic Happen

When you see traffic coming from regions outside your target market, it doesn't always mean something went wrong on your side. In reality, this usually happens for two common reasons.

  • Campaign Setup Errors: Your campaign settings allow traffic from regions you didn’t intend to target.
  • Ad Fraud: Some traffic sources deliberately send cheap, out-of-region traffic, wasting your budget.

In both cases, the impact is the same. Your budget is spent on users who are unlikely to convert, and your attribution data becomes harder to interpret. Without clear visibility and control, it becomes difficult to understand what is truly driving performance and what is simply noise.

What is SolarEngine's Regional Firewall

Regional Firewall is a region-based traffic filter. It allows your campaign to accept data only from the countries or regions you select. Any impressions, clicks, installs, or events coming from outside those regions are blocked before attribution.

This helps you keep your campaigns focused on the right markets and prevents unwanted traffic from consuming your budget.

How Regional Firewall Can Help You

  • Protect Your Budget: Traffic from outside your target regions almost always translates into wasted spend. Regional Firewall blocks out-of-region traffic and stops wasted ad spend.
  • Keep Your Data Clean: Filter non-target traffic to improve attribution accuracy and gain clearer, more reliable ROI insights.
  • Flexible, Proactive Control: Actively manage allowed regions and adjust targeting as your campaign strategy and markets evolve.

Activate Your Regional Firewall in 4 Steps

The Regional Firewall feature is now fully available. By default, this feature is turned off and can be enabled whenever your campaign strategy requires.

  • Go to the Anti-Fraud Settings: Log in to your SolarEngine dashboard and navigate to the Anti-fraud Section.
  • Turn On Regional Firewall: Switch the Regional Firewall toggle to "On".
  • Select Your Target Regions: Choose the countries or regions you want your campaign to focus on. You can select multiple regions at once.
  • Save Your Settings: Once saved, the system immediately starts filtering traffic.

Note: Once enabled, the system will collect real-time data from the target area based on your configuration. Data from non-target areas will be blocked.

With Regional Firewall, you can minimize the risk of fraudulent or irrelevant traffic and make sure every dollar of your ad budget reaches the users who truly matter.
